Ervin Cohen & Jessup Nominated for Will Rogers Award Law Firm has Long History of Community Involvement

11.01.2016

LOS ANGELES – November 1, 2016 – Ervin Cohen & Jessup has become the first and only law firm to date to be nominated for a Will Rogers Award, an honor supported by the city of Beverly Hills for local businesses that have made an impact on the community.  The firm will be recognized at an awards dinner on November 9.

Ervin Cohen & Jessup was nominated because “they set a great example of giving back and being involved in the community,” said Todd Johnson, president and CEO of the Beverly Hills Chamber of Commerce.  “They walk the talk.”

The firm’s tradition of community involvement dates back to the firm’s formation in 1953, said ECJ Employment Partner Kelly Scott. “Being an active member of the community we serve is a core value of our firm,” said Scott. “Whether it’s participating in the Chamber, volunteering on the board of a charity or supporting a non-profit, our entire firm gets involved.”

For the holidays, the firm’s professionals collect food, games and stuffed animals for the United Service Organizations (USO), Providence Saint John's Child and Family Development Center, United In Harmony and Vista del Mar. On behalf of its clients and business associates, the firm donates to such groups as Bet Tzedek, Students Run L.A., the Exceptional Children’s Foundation, and the Lynne Cohen Foundation for Ovarian Cancer Research.

Throughout the year, the firm’s professionals support and volunteer for the Kickin’ Cancer 5K Walk/Run & Family Expo, the Maple Counseling Center, City of Hope, United Way, the Foundation for Camp Max Straus and the American Jewish Committee.

“It’s a real honor to be nominated for this award,” said Scott, who recently served as Chairman of the Board for the Chamber of Commerce. “Our involvement is one way we proactively create lifelong relationships with professionals with whom we do business. We don’t just wait until they have problems.”

The gala raises funds for the City of Beverly Hills Community Charitable Foundation. This year’s benefit will help restore the city’s century-old Beverly Gardens Park.
