Pooja Nair, Chair of ECJ’s Food, Beverage and Hospitality Department, authored an article titled, “Supreme Court to Hear Challenge to California’s Prop 12 Farm Welfare Law” which was published by Modern Restaurant Management magazine.

The article discusses the Supreme Court’s willingness to hear a constitutional challenge to California’s Proposition 12 farm animal confinement law. Proposition 12 was passed by California Voters in 2018 as a ballot initiative.

In February 2022, a state superior court judge issued an order ruling that California suppliers, restaurants and retailers would not be subject to enforcement measures for the law until 180 days after California issued final regulations.
