Pooja Nair, Partner and Chair of ECJ’s Food, Beverage and Hospitality Department, and Jessica Kraus, an attorney in ECJ's Litigation Department, co-authored the article, "Food Industry Trends Toward Sustainability," which was featured in the September/October 2021 edition of GPSolo magazine. The article was published in the "Best of ABA Sections," which is a compilation of some of the best articles published by the American Bar Association's sections, forums and divisions.

The article discusses key topics such as redistributing food to prevent waste and the end of using single-use plastics. There are high levels of food waste but at the same time, millions of Americans experience food insecurity at some point in the year. Initiatives from technology companies are being introduced to maximize value for food resources but are met with many logistical and legal challenges. Single-use plastic initiatives have also received pushback but that has not stopped cities, states and a growing list of companies from taking the initiative to ban plastic straws.
