Employers That Restrict Tattoos Should Tread Carefully

Kelly Scott, Partner and Chair of ECJ’s Employment Department was quoted in a February 2023 Law360 article titled, "Employers That Restrict Tattoos Should Tread Carefully”.

"Even though there's a growing number of people that have them, … most employers don't want any tattoos showing if they're sort of unprofessional,"said Kelly Scott.

The article emphasizes on how tattoos aren't explicitly protected under federal anti-discrimination law, but that doesn't mean employers have carte blanche to make workers cover up their ink.
