Pooja S. Nair, Partner of ECJ’s Food, Beverage and Hospitality Department, recently published an article for Modern Restaurant Management magazine. Her article "California Amends Franchise Law: What Restaurants Need to Know", highlights Assembly Bill (“AB”) 676 going into effect as of January 1, 2023, significantly amending the California Franchise Relations Act and Franchise Investment Law. It prohibits franchise agreements from including a provision requiring the franchisee to disclaim their reliance on representations made by the franchisor or its agents and reliance on the franchise disclosure documents.
