Peter S. Selvin, Chair of ECJ's Insurance Coverage and Recovery Department, published an article in the June 29, 2020 issue of the Daily Journal titled"Appellate Rulings Depart From Treaty Interpretation Norms".

International treaties and conventions are considered to be under federal law and without regard to state common law. Peter discusses two appellate court decisions that "illustrate a departure from this practice". The respective courts in both cases used U.S. common law to reach their agreements.
