Overview

Shantal Malmed is an Associate in ECJ’s Receivership, Bankruptcy, and Creditors’ Rights Services Department. Her practice focuses on complex insolvency and fiduciary matters, including receiverships, bankruptcy litigation, and asset recovery. Shantal brings experience representing trustees in Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 proceedings, handling adversary actions, settlements, and court-approved asset sales in the real estate, finance, healthcare, aviation, food and restaurants, wholesale distribution, retail, ecommerce, and energy industries.  Notably, Shantal represented a chapter 11 trustee for a large hospital in successfully obtaining $1 million in voluminous preference action lawsuits. Shantal also represented a chapter 7 trustee for an insolvent aviation company in the sale of property that created a completely solvent estate. Shantal currently serves as Vice Chair of the Beverly Hills Bar Association, Bankruptcy Section.

She earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law and holds a Bachelor of Arts, summa cum laude, from UCLA.  During law school, she served as Treasurer of the Jewish Law Student Association and Academic Chair of the Women’s Law Society.
