Elliot Z. Chen

Elliot Chen is an Associate in the Litigation Department.

Elliot’s practice focuses on complex business and corporate litigation, in federal and state courts. He has represented a wide range of clients, from national retailers and technology companies to local businesses and high-net-worth individuals, in a variety of cases involving issues related to intellectual property, contract disputes, real estate and other complex business matters.

While in law school, Elliot served as a judicial intern for Special Master Brian H. Corcoran of the U.S. Court of Federal Claims. He also assisted in preparing an appeal for appropriate post-conviction relief as a member of the Wrongful Convictions Clinic.

As an undergraduate, Elliot worked at Johns Hopkins University as a research assistant in biostatistics and bioinformatics, where he performed statistical analysis on results from the 1000 Genome Project and located high variability areas in the human genome.

Defended a major footwear company in a design patent infringement lawsuit involving athletic shoes.

Secured a jury award in the hundreds of millions for a patent infringement suit involving 4G LTE technology. The jury found that the Defendant infringed claims of the five patents at issue, determined all asserted claims were valid and found that Defendant’s infringement was willful.

Evaluated an extensive patent portfolio on behalf of a major technology company in anticipation of multi-district patent litigation.
