Employer Alert: The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the California Civil Rights Department Issue Updated Mandatory Posters

The United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has released an updated “Know Your Rights: Workplace Discrimination is Illegal” poster that must be prominently displayed in the workplace. The “Know Your Rights: Workplace Discrimination is Illegal” poster is available in English and Spanish:

California’s Civil Rights Department (CRD) (formerly the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH)), has also recently issued updated mandatory posters, which California employers must prominently display:

Translations of the California posters are required for workplaces where 10% or more of workers speak a language other than English.  Thankfully, the posters are available in several languages in the posters, guides and fact sheets section of the CRD website. In addition, the CRD states that it will work with an employer if other translations are needed.
