Heather L. McCloskey is a partner in the Litigation and Intellectual Property Departments at ECJ. Her areas of practice include a broad range of general business litigation, intellectual property litigation and counseling. Ms. McCloskey has extensive experience litigating business disputes. She also has significant experience in trademark, copyright, and patent infringement litigation, as well as internet and technology law, trade secrets, unfair competition, and entertainment law. Her practice includes counseling clients on ways to avoid litigation and protect their business and intellectual property interests, negotiating, preparing, and enforcing license agreements and other contracts, and resolution of disputes through litigation or settlement.
Ms. McCloskey has extensive trial experience in both state and federal courts in the State of California, including numerous multi-week trials in Los Angeles County Superior Courts, San Francisco County Superior Courts, and the United States District Courts for the Central District of California. She is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts within the State of California.
Ms. McCloskey received her Juris Doctorate in 1997 from the University of San Diego School of Law, and was admitted to the State Bar of California that same year. Her undergraduate degree was received from Bard College in Annandale-On-Hudson, New York, where she majored in psychology. Ms. McCloskey is a member of the California Bar Association, Intellectual Property Section.
Ms. McCloskey was voted a "Southern California Rising Star" for the 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2007 editions of Southern California Super Lawyer magazine. As a Rising Star, Mr. McCloskey is recognized as one of the top 200 lawyers in Southern California under the age of 40 and practicing less than 10 years.
