Gary J. Freedman is a partner in ECJ's Business and Corporate Law Department and is a member of the firm's Executive Committee.  Mr. Freedman focuses on corporate, corporate finance and securities matters. He also has extensive experience in a broad range of domestic and international corporate transactions, licensing arrangements, strategic partnering, initial and secondary public offerings of equity securities, venture capital financing, private placements, mergers and acquisitions, management buyouts, executive compensation (including equity incentive plans) and SEC compliance matters.

Mr. Freedman received his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of California Hastings College of the Law in 1967 and a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from the University of Illinois in 1964.

Mr. Freedman has served as a member of various Boards of Directors of non-profit institutions and charities including Cal Tech/MIT Enterprise Forum; The Entrepreneurship Institute (Board Chairman and Member of Executive Committee), American Society for Technion (Los Angeles Board of Directors); City of Hope Inner Circle, and The John Thomas Dye School (Board Chairman and Member of Executive Committee).  In addition, he has served on the Boards of Directors and committees of both private and publicly held companies in the technology, financial services and manufacturing sectors.  Mr. Freedman is a member of Business Law Section of the State Bar of California and the Business & Corporations Law Section of the Los Angeles County Bar Association.

He is also the author of Employee Relations - Decreasing the Risk of Employee Lawsuits, 1994; The Ties that Bind Big Corporations, Small Entrepreneurs, Los Angeles Business Journal, September 19, 1988; There's Help Available for Growth-Oriented Businesses, Daily News, August 1, 1988; and An Introduction to Tax Planning for the Writer, The Writer's Manual, A Practical Guide to Your Career, the Beverly Hills Bar Association Barristers Committee for the Arts, 1980.
