Kimberly N. Brooks is an Associate in the Employment Law Department.
Kimberly’s practice focuses on labor and employment law in both state and federal court. Kimberly works on teams representing national insurance companies, large hospitals, and prominent financial institutions. She represents these clients in a variety of matters, including employment contract disputes, wage-and-hour class actions, and retaliation and discrimination cases. Kimberly also advises clients on these matters, revising workplace policies and giving on-site trainings to employees.
In her first year of practice, Kimberly served as lead counsel in a jury trial in San Diego Superior Court regarding whether a conservatorship over an individual should be reinstated based upon a finding that the individual was gravely disabled. Kimberly delivered opening statements, examined the expert witness and cross-examined the individual’s family members and friends. The trial resulted in a unanimous verdict for the County of San Diego.
During law school, Kimberly interned at the National Labor Relations Board in San Francisco, where she conducted workplace investigations, organized union voting, and prepared recommendations for Board action to enforce compliance with the National Labor Relations Act. She also served as President of the Migrant Farmworkers Project, traveling to agricultural sites in central Virginia to communicate in Spanish with migrant workers about their legal rights. Prior to law school, Kimberly taught English at the University of Castilla-La Mancha in central Spain.
